Position: Director of Special Services
North Warren Regional School District is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of
Special Services to lead our exceptional special education team.
Job Summary:
The Director of Special Services will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and
supervision of special education programs and special services within the district, spanning
grades 7 through 12. This includes ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations,
developing and implementing effective programs, fostering a collaborative environment among
staff, students, families, and community partners, contributing to the district's Multi-Tiered
System of Supports (MTSS), and leading key educational initiatives and frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and vision for the special education department, aligning with the
district's strategic goals and commitment to inclusive practices. - Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs
while ensuring they meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. - Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations related to special education.
- Manage the special education budget, allocating resources effectively and efficiently.
- Supervise and evaluate special education staff, providing professional development and
support to enhance their skills and expertise. - Implementation of the Danielson Framework for Teaching to guide evaluation and
professional growth. - Collaborate with district administration, teachers, and other school staff to ensure the
successful inclusion of students with disabilities in general education classrooms. - Work closely with families to foster strong partnerships and ensure their active
involvement in their child's education, recognizing the evolving needs of students and
families as students progress through the system. - Maintain data-driven decision-making processes, using data to monitor program
effectiveness and student progress across all grade levels to make recommendations for
programming. Experience with data analysis and reporting related to state testing and
program evaluation. - Serve as a liaison with community agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive
support services for students with disabilities and their families. - Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the district's
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, ensuring alignment between
special education services and general education interventions. This includes
collaborating with MTSS teams to provide expertise on student needs, appropriate
interventions, and data-driven decision-making.

- Contribute to curriculum writing and revision processes, ensuring accessibility and
alignment with special education needs. - Contribute to QSAC (Quality Single Accountability Continuum) readiness and
compliance. - Coordinate state testing for students with disabilities, ensuring appropriate
accommodations and adherence to testing regulations. - Oversee Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) and other alternate assessments.
- Oversee Title programs and all related grants.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
- Principal or School Administrator Certification
- Special Education teaching experience
- Extensive experience in special education administration and leadership
- Deep understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective special education programs
across different educational settings - Experience with and understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
frameworks. - Experience utilizing the Danielson Framework for Teaching
- Experience with curriculum development and QSAC readiness
- Experience coordinating state testing and working with alternate assessments such as
Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) - Experience in developing and writing ESEA grants
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and serving the diverse needs of all students

Full Time with Benefits
- Must have or be willing to obtain NJ Low Pressure Boiler Operator’s License
- HVAC/Maintenance/Plumbing/Painting experience preferred
- Criminal History Background Check/Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to lift 50 lbs/Climb step ladders/work with others
- Overtime available
